The Carmel Garden Inn, formerly called the Rosita Lodge, was built in 1949 as apartments. It changed to overnight lodging sometime in the 1960’s. The design is still somewhat original, however many upgrades have been made. We got the inn on March 25, 2013. On March 26 our contractor came over to look at the job and on March 27th the remodel of the office and kitchen began. It was an exciting time filled with lots of anticipation and dust! Here are some of the photos we took for our archives.
We found this postcard taken sometime in the 1960’s or 70’s. At that time it was called the Rosita Lodge.
The front desk in the beginning.
Before we got our own desk!
It seems like only a year ago! We all lost weight during the construction!
We originally going to wait to redo the kitchen but then really took a look at it and said….no! Let’s do it now!
I wish I would have taken pictures of the kitchen before the hammer!
Would you believe this was the lobby looking at the back wall!?
Our free parking lot! Several loads were removed from here!
After the remodel, this is what the lobby looked like before we painted the chairs and matching tablecloths.
And before we painted the patio walls and put up new gates!
Our old sign. If you remove the cardboard you’ll see it says the former name…Garden Court Inn. Come and see our new sign…in February!
