The Carmel Garden Inn

built in 1949

Originally constructed in 1949 as apartments (Rosita Lodge), the Carmel Garden Inn retains the charm of its original design. Under the management of Curtis and Holly, the focal point of our bed and breakfast remains its gardens and hospitality.  We are proud to carry on the beautiful tradition of guest service that Susan and Julian have built. The private gardens of the five patio suites, the open garden, and the small gardens around our b&b, all are designed to complement the serenity and charm of Carmel while affording a feeling of privacy and intimacy not usually found at other properties.

Choose a patio suite. Each of these five has a private patio measuring 11 by 13 feet. Inside are large rooms all with wood-burning fireplaces and small seating areas with wet bars. Four of these mini-suites have world class King box mattresses from Monterey Mattress Co., insuring your sleep will be one of the best of your life.  The other patio suite has two Queen sized beds for double the relaxation.

Choose Rosita. With its peek of the ocean over the rooftops of Carmel, Rosita is the largest of our rooms.

Choose one of our three Torres Street rooms. These rooms are cozy and all have wood-burning fireplaces.

In the morning, enjoy breakfast with us in our new dining room. All our food is prepared on site by our staff. Homemade scones, tea and fabulous coffee (from our friends at Carmel Valley Roasting Company), our secret recipe granola, are among the many other breakfast items served from 8am to 10am.

In the evening, relax in front of the fire in the dining room. Enjoy the wines we pour, the special cheeses and treats we serve. We keep the cookie jars filled with homemade treats.

Many of the rooms are designated pet friendly.  Sheeted dog beds, food and water bowls, treats… we understand. We are dog people, too.

Our staff collectively has more than 80 years of experience in the area that we are happy to share with our guests; from wonderful restaurants, local wineries, hiking trails and hidden treasures in the Monterey area.

Three blocks from Ocean Avenue, our bed and breakfast location enables guests to park their cars (seven onsite parking spaces and three Torres Street untimed parking spaces) and walk to all of Carmel’s shops, galleries and restaurants and Carmel Beach.

Whatever brings you to Carmel, once you stay with us you will join the number of our guests who return and tell their friends and relatives “Stay at the Carmel Garden Inn. It was extraordinary.”

We look forward to your stay.
